“Living an AWESOME Life! Taking Two Steps Forward and One Step Back” Merry Christmas! When you read this greeting I’m sure many of you thought “how can he wish everyone a Merry Christmas? He doesn’t know if we celebrate this holiday or not.” I thought that way too until a co-worker taught me this lesson last year: This young lady happens to be a Jehovah’s Witness (her religion does not recognize or celebrate Holidays as this is considered worshipping something other than their God) so saying Merry Christmas to her was potentially offensive. Concerned, I asked her how she felt about the greeting. She taught me this perspective: “When someone says that to me I am not offended. It is what is in their heart and they are sharing. So long as they believe it, I take it as a reminder to be true to my own faith. If someone says ‘Good Morning’ when I am in a bad mood should I get mad?” In this day and age of political correctness you can RARELY win! Just recall last weeks News about the Teddy Bear named Mohammad. There was never any intent to do anything other than good in this case. At times, and in certain places, you MUST be “correct”-- even clairvoyant-- but not when the intent is to be personally cordial or genuine. In these cases you must simply act in good faith as a Human Being, Being Human.
